Envoy To Poland May Have Had Close Contact With Coronavirus - Infected Individual

Japanese Justice Minister Furukawa Yoshihisa, who was due to travel to Poland to coordinate Japan's acceptance of Ukrainian evacuees, may have come into close contact with an individual infected with the coronavirus.
Furukawa was scheduled to leave for Poland on Friday as a special envoy for Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.
Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary Kihara Seiji said in the Diet on Thursday that Furukawa was due to leave on Friday and return on Tuesday, but this itinerary has been scrapped.
Kihara said the government is discussing how to respond to the matter.
