Japan's Defense Ministry sources say the projectile North Korea launched appears to have fallen into waters about 170 kilometers off the northern prefecture of Aomori. This is within Japan's exclusive economic zone.
They say it appears to have been an inter-continental ballistic class missile and it was launched on a lofted trajectory.
Part of the projectile earlier fell outside of Japan's exclusive economic zone.
The ministry of defense say the rest has now fallen into the sea, but it has not yet confirmed if this was within Japan's exclusive economic zone or not.
