Japanese Justice Minister Calls Poland Visit Essential

Japan's justice minister has called his intended visit to Poland essential for fully grasping what support is needed for Ukrainian evacuees under severe conditions.
Furukawa Yoshihisa was speaking to reporters on Friday about the plan for him to make the visit as a special envoy of Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.
Kishida revealed in Belgium on Thursday that he plans to send the justice minister to Poland in an effort to accept more people who have fled Ukraine.
Furukawa said the government will spend about 4.3 million dollars from reserve funds of the current fiscal budget to support accommodation and dining costs of Ukrainian evacuees in Japan.
He also suggested that he plans to set up a task force to shore up support in Japan's embassy and other government agencies in Poland.
He added that the government will send immigration officials to the embassy.
Poland has so far accepted the largest number of people fleeing Ukraine.
