Japanese Language Schools Offer Ukrainians Free Lessons

A group of Japanese language schools is working to accept Ukrainian students who want to evacuate to Japan amid the Russian invasion.
The group of about 20 schools in Japan says they will provide free Japanese language education to 100 Ukrainians. It started interviews for applicants on Tuesday.
In an online interview, a 22-year-old woman in Zaporizhzhia region, said she feels unsafe because there is a nuclear power plant about 30 kilometers away that has been seized by the Russian military.
She told she has wanted to study in Japan, and that she also wants a peaceful life.
Hiraoka Norito, who heads the group, named Japanese Supports for Ukrainian Students, said so far it has received about 20 applications. He added they hope more Ukrainians will apply.
