Tokyo Confirms 7,844 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says it confirmed 7,844 new cases of the coronavirus and nine deaths on Sunday.

The case count is up more than 1,300 from a week ago.

The seven-day average through Sunday stands at 6,466.6. That's about 85 percent of the figure for the previous seven-day period.

The number of seriously ill patients who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines in the capital stands at 36, up one from Saturday.
