The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported 6,922 new cases of the coronavirus in the capital on Tuesday.

The daily tally is 46 less than a week ago.

The number of seriously ill patients who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines in the capital stands at 27, down one from Monday.
