1,000 Miles Of Toyota Gt86

Toyota GT86Toyota’s hotly-anticipated new GT86 sports coupe has received glowing reviews ahead of going on sale here in the UK in July.

Everything is in place for the car to arrive on Toyota dealer forecourts – but first, we are taking it on a non-stop 1,000-mile continent-crossing dash to bring it to the UK – starting on Saturday night.   The car will be one of the very first Toyota GT86s to arrive on British shores, but to get it here we have to drive through the night from our European launch event in Barcelona.

And the clock is ticking. The model has a lot to do once its arrived, as reviewers are queuing up to be the first to drive the car in the UK.

Our man Nik Pearson starts the epic journey on Saturday (26 May) at 1930 EST / 1830 BST. He will set off from Barcelona’s stunning modern airport, travelling up into the Catalan hills before entering France.   After powering through the French countryside, our GT86 will pay homage to its sporting ancestors in Le Mans – home of the famous 24-hour endurance event where we will be racing the groundbreaking TS030 Hybrid in June. Then it’s a straight dash for the Eurotunnel, back into Blighty and the finish line at the Toyota press fleet centre near Epsom in Surrey.   Nik will be providing regular updates on his progress, including pictures taken along the way. You can track his progress on Twitter by following @ToyotaGB and the hashtag #GT86.   Better still, get involved and send a message of encouragement – or ask questions about how the car fares with this unique test.
