2016 Mazda2 Returns 37 Mpg Combined



2015 Mazda2 Euro Engine Lineup Detailed The subcompact 2016 Mazda2 will achieve a combined fuel economy rating of 37 mpg with an automatic transmission.
According to the EPA, the 2016 Mazda2 will get a fuel economy rating of 31 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway when equipped with the six-speed manual transmission, while the six-speed automatic will return 33 mpg city, 43 mpg highway.


Those figures are a significant improvement over the previous Mazda2, which returned a maximum of 29 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.

In terms of competing in the subcompact segment, the 2016 Mazda2 will be one of the best performers when it comes to fuel economy. The new Mazda2 is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder Skyactiv engine. Specifications haven’t been confirmed, but in the Scion iA, this same powerplant makes 106 hp and 103 lb-ft of torque.
