2016 Mitsubishi Triton 4x2 petrol base model added to the rangeThe 2016 Mitsubishi Triton range has seen the addition of a new petrol-powered base model single-cab, and a couple of new dual-cab models.
The entry-level 4×2 GLX single-cab-chassis is powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder petrol with a five-speed manual gearbox. It produces 94kW of power and 194Nm of torque, and fuel consumption is rated at 10.9 litres per 100 kilometres. It’s priced at $21,990 plus on-road costs. It joins the diesel single-cab GLX manual, which remains at $24,490 plus costs.

There’s also a new GLX dual-cab diesel manual 4×2 pick-up model that kicks off at $33,490. That variant makes use of the same 2.4-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder engine in the rest of the Triton range, which has 133kW and 430Nm.

The 4×4 diesel Triton range has also been expanded with a new GLX dual-cab-chassis variant. This model kicks off at $36,240 for the six-speed manual, with the optional five-speed auto adding $2500 to the price.

All Triton models come with seven airbags (dual front, front side, full-length curtain and driver’s knee), but no cab-chassis models have reverse-view cameras.

As with the rest of the Mitsubishi range, there’s a four-year/60,000km capped-price service campaign. For the newly added 2.4-litre model, intervals are 12 months or 15,000km, with costs at $235, $265, $265 and $265 respectively.
