Lexus has revealed pricing and specifications for the 2018 NX300 and NX300h, bringing new suspension tuning, sharper styling, more standard safety and a front-wheel drive option for F Sport buyers.
The NX engine lineup remains unchanged for 2018. The NX300 (formerly NX200t) is still powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo making 175kW and 350Nm, hooked up to a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Claimed fuel economy is 7.7L/100km on the combined cycle, and the SUV hits 100 km/h from a standstill in 7.3 seconds as a front-driver and 7.1 seconds in all-wheel drive trim.
Meanwhile, the NX300h makes do with 147kW and 210Nm from its hybrid powertrain. Coupled with a CVT, it sprints from 0-100km/h in 8.9 seconds and sips 5.7L/100km on the combined cycle.
Both the NX300 and NX300h will be available in three trims: Luxury, F Sport and Sport Luxury.
Pricing for the NX300 Luxury (above) kicks off at $54,800 (+$1,250) in front-drive guise or $59,300 (+$1,160) with all-wheel drive, while the front-drive NX300h Luxury costs $57,300 (+$1,200) and the all-wheel drive variant is $61,800 (+$1,110).
Luxury-spec cars gain Lexus Safety System+ with pre-collision and lane departure warnings, blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alerts, along with adaptive cruise and trailer-sway control as standard.
Automatic high-beam for the bi-LED headlights is also standard for 2018, while the exterior mirrors are now anti-glare electrochromatic units.
Making the leap to the two-wheel drive NX300 F Sport (above) will cost $60,800 , while the all-wheel drive model costs $65,300 (+$910). The NX300h F Sport starts at $63,300 in front-drive trim, and jumps to $67,800 (+$480) with all-wheel drive.
Compared to the Luxury grade, F Sport models gain a unique tune for their adaptive suspension, four drive modes and performance dampers on the front and rear axles.
Inside, the steering wheel, gear shifter and seats have been swapped for F Sport units. The scuff plates and pedals are also unique to the sporty variant.
Outside, there are F Sport bumpers and a unique grille, along with 18-inch alloy wheels. The bi-LED headlamps from the Luxury make way for multi-LED high- and low-beam units in F Sport trim, too.
Wireless phone charging, heated and cooled seats, memory and power lumbar support on the driver seat are all standard.
Finally, the all-wheel drive only Sports Luxury (above) will cost $73,800 (+$819) with the petrol engine and $76,300 (-$200) as a hybrid.
The Sport Luxury gains a moonroof, 14-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, head-up display and keyless entry as standard – a package which adds $6,000 to the price of the F Sport and Luxury – but you’ll still pay $1,000 for premium paint. The interior gains woodgrain-look trim and heated rear seats, but changes are otherwise limited.
The updated NX will wear the fresh look debuted in Shanghai earlier this year, with slightly longer (5mm) overhangs front and rear. New headlamps, a revised spindle grille and new bumpers headline the changes up front, while the rear bumper and licence plate housing have both been tweaked. F Sport and Sport Luxury models both gain sequential indicators, too.
Inside, the entire range has been treated to a 10.2-inch central display (up from 7) and a revised mouse-style controller for the infotainment system. Minor changes have been made to the layout of the centre stack, but the basic architecture remains the same for 2018.
