ASIMO travelled to the lakeside city of Lausanne in Switzerland this week to attend the official opening of the SwissTech Convention Centre, a brand new collaboration hub for the European scientific community.
The state-of-the-art facility, located within the campus of one of Europe’s leading technology universities (EPFL), can accommodate up to 3,000 people and has been praised for its innovative architecture. This includes a solar photovoltaic facade composed of “Grätzel cells” and a completely modular design, enabling its amphitheatre to transform into a banquet hall in about 15 minutes.
ASIMO was invited to mark the public launch of the landmark centre and performed ten shows over the weekend in front of a combined audience of over 8,000.
ASIMO’s trip to Switzerland is its seventh appearance in the Alpine region in seven years.
