As one of the first affordable mid-engined sports cars, the Toyota MR2 has gained a cult following all over the world.
Launched in 1984 as a fuel-efficient, rear-wheel-drive sports car, the MR2 (Midship Runabout 2-seater) soldiered on until 2007 across three generations. Rumors about Toyota bringing the MR2 back have been constant since the third-generation model went out of production almost 12 years ago. It would be a real shame if Toyota didn’t build another MR2, given how successful the Mazda MX-5 Miata is.
Until then, MR2 enthusiasts do what they do best: restore and collect existing MR2 models so that they can still be enjoyed instead of being dumped in scrapyards. But while most fans own one or two MR2s, there are some who seem to have trouble controlling their MR2 addiction — and who can blame them when these mid-engined joy machines are so cheap?

We’ve recently run a story about a man who traded in five Toyota MR2s for a low-mileage 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Leaving aside the fact that the MR2 community probably didn’t like what he did, owning five MR2s is a bit too much, don’t you think?
Well, it’s all about perspective. For some people, five MR2s just aren’t enough. Take Bob Pham, a California-based Toyota MR2 fanatic. He owns fourteen of these mid-engined runabouts. Yes, you read that right. Why would anyone fill their neighborhood streets with MR2s, you ask?
