Honda Is Talking About An Nsx Type R

Honda Is Talking About An NSX Type RHonda admits that it is talking about a potent Type R version of the hybrid NSX supercar.
When asked by Motoring about the company’s desire for an NSX Type R, vice president and general manager of Acura in the U.S., Jon Ikeda, said that the marque is interested in such a project."Performance is what we’re after and the NSX sets the table for us. Whether we’re doing coupes or SUVs, it’s going to be a performance car."I’m a car guy, so always faster performance vehicles … yeah we like that, we talk about it," Ikeda said.Any possible NSX Type R won’t come cheapPR manager for Acura in the U.S., Matt Sloustcher also chimed in but said there are no current plans for such a model."We’ll see … anything can happen. There’s always proposals," he said before adding that those looking for a go-faster NSX can always buy the GT3 race car. While Honda is remaining tight-lipped about a new NSX Type R, creating one wouldn’t be too difficult for the firm. For starters, output from the twin-turbo V6 and three electric motors would need to be boosted to over 600 hp. Additionally, engineers would likely have to find a way to lower the supercar’s overall weight and ensure that it is even faster than the current model. However, it is important to mention that the current NSX isn’t selling like hot-cakes. In fact, less than 600 were sold throughout the United States last year, making it a very rare car indeed. If an even more expensive Type R variant is to be offered, sales of it will also be relatively low.
