Honda Puts S660 Neo Classic Body Kit Into Production, But You Can't Have It Outside JapanIf you have a soft spot for Japan's Kei cars, it's impossible not to love the Honda S660 roadster. And if you are a fan of the S660, you're most likely aware that Honda has been toying with the idea of offering a retro-styled body kit for the tiny roadster for almost two years.


First unveiled at the 2016 Tokyo Auto Salon as the S660 Neo Classic Concept, the body kit got further refined a year later at the same venue, where it was shown as the S660 Neo Classic Prototype.Now, Honda has finally brought it to production as the S660 Neo Classic, and the truth is it completely transforms the standard S660. The body kit gives the roadster a nostalgic vibe thanks to the round headlights and taillights, as well as the curved new bumpers, fenders, grille, and bonnet. All these parts are made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP).Interestingly, Honda delivers the panels unpainted, with the reason being that owners will paint the car however they want anyway. It’s not hard to realize where Honda found inspiration for the S660 Neo Classic, as the round headlights remind of the classic N600 and the more recent N-One Kei cars. One could say it looks similar to Honda’s Sports EV Concept too, and that isn’t surprising given the electric study’s styling roots are also in the past.Honda will kick off sales of the Neo Classic kit in Japan (only) on September 21, but don’t expect it to be cheap. It costs 1,296,000 yen (roughly $11,670), which is a lot considering you also need to own an S660 in the first place — or buy one. The price doesn’t include installation and paint costs either.
