Consider the floodgates open on the Vision Gran Turismo movement. Mitsubishi's contribution to the range of concept cars has made its debut. This is the Concept XR-PHEV Evolution Vision Gran Turismo, and it might just be our favorite car of the bunch.
Really, this is just a followup to an actual Mitsubishi concept, the Concept XR-PHEV, which we showed you way back in November at the Tokyo Motor Show. As is the case with the Vision Gran Turismo treatment, though, the design has been amped up considerably, creating what looks to our eyes like a Pikes Peak-worthy shooting brake racer. The body is made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic while Mitsu's Aerodynamic Engineering Development Group lent their expertise to help the car slice through the air.
Like the standard Concept XR-PHEV, this car is motivated by way of a plug-in hybrid powertrain. Details are limited, although we do know an eight-speed automatic shifts the power to an all-wheel-drive system. Mitsubishi's Super-All Wheel Control is on hand to manage the behavior of each individual wheel.
