New Nissan Compact Hatchback Will Replace Almera, Go On Sale In Late 2014

Nissan VW Golf rival on the roadNissan engineers wrapped up the Almera's successor from top to bottom. Whether this means that Nissan will heavily modify the appearance of the hatch for European consumers is something we cannot tell from these pictures.

What we do know is that Nissan's Ford Focus and VW Golf contender will be produced at the brand's Barcelona plant in Spain from July 2014, with European deliveries to commence in the fall of the same year, meaning that a 2014 Geneva Motor Show debut next March is very likely.

The diesel and petrol engine lineup for the compact model, which may or may not keep the Almera name, will mirror the new Qashqai crossover.
