Nissan Note Selected Car Of The Year By Japan Experts

Nissan NOTE Launched, a New Global HatchbackNissan small car Note, which went on sale in September, was selected as "Car of the Year" on Wednesday by a Japanese nonprofit organization made up of auto experts and journalists.

A Nissan vehicle was thus honored for the second straight year by the Automotive Researchers' & Journalists' Conference of Japan, after its electric car Leaf was accorded the distinction last year.

The upscale model of the Note equipped with a 1.2-liter engine and a "supercharger" has achieved a fuel economy similar to that of a hybrid vehicle at 25.2 kilometers per liter of gasoline.

Selected as the cars of the year among imported vehicles were BMW's 3 Series and the Volkswagen up!

The "Technology of the Year" award went to the energy-saving mechanism employed in Suzuki Motor Corp.'s WagonR minicar.
