Nissan Trolls Frankfurt Motor Show With Bogus Francfort Debut For 2020 Juke

Nissan Trolls Frankfurt Motor Show With Bogus Francfort Debut For 2020 Juke

At least 23 major brands have decided to skip the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show and Nissan is one of them, despite having a massive launch for Europe that would have justified paying for a stand at the event.

We’re talking about the all-new 2020 Juke, obviously, which is one of the major absentees from IAA 2019. Still, Nissan did debut the subcompact crossover at an auto show — one of its own making.

It’s called the "Francfort Show 2019" and it’s a completely bogus event Nissan invented just to troll the real 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Japanese automaker chose the village of Francfort (the French translation of Frankfurt) in Charente-Maritime, France as a location for its fictitious auto show.

We’re not even sure that this village exists because it doesn’t even appear on the map in the Charente-Maritime region of France. Anyway, Nissan released some cheeky photos and videos on its European media website without providing further details.

We’ve managed to find a Facebook page for the event that took place on September 7 and was opened to everyone, especially Juke owners. Nissan France expected quite a lot of people to visit the tent and even promised a surprise for the first 150 guests. As it turns out, only 23 people drove their Jukes to Francfort to see the 2020 Juke, despite the fact that there was a food truck awaiting them on site.

One might say that auto shows, real or fictitious, are not what they used to be. On a more serious note, the Frankfurt Motor Show does indeed suffer because many carmakers are absent this year.

The long list includes names like Abarth, Alpine, Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Citroën, Dacia, DS, Ferrari, Fiat, Infiniti, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Rolls-Royce, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota and Volvo.
