As electrification is bound to become increasingly common throughout the automotive industry, the shape and design of new vehicles will begin to change.

Just take a look at the new Ioniq 5, for example. On first impressions, it looks like a compact hatchback but it actually has a longer wheelbase than Hyundai’s flagship Palisade SUV.

By also using an electric powertrain, the designer of this unusual Honda concept has managed to drastically alter the shape of the vehicle. Dubbed the HR-X Delsol, the concept is referred to as a tiny pickup truck coupe and not only does it look unlike any other modern Honda, but it also looks unlike any other production vehicle as well.

The front of the concept consists of a short hood with virtually no front overhang. There is also a faux grille similar in shape to the grille of the all-electric Honda e and complete with a large 'H’ shape on the left. The designer, Alexis Poncelet, has taken a real sci-fi approach to the rest of the vehicle’s design, fitting it with a set of bizarre off-road wheels and tires that protrude out from the bodywork. Such a design simply wouldn’t be functional on the road but it certainly gives the concept a unique look.

The unique shape of the vehicle continues at the rear where there is a small pickup bed and cargo area. One of the renderings depicts three computer graphics card-inspired fridges used to cool beers.
