Watch The Stig Take An Alpine A110 Around The Top Gear Track

Watch The Stig Take An Alpine A110 Around The Top Gear TrackIn the sixth episode of the 25th series, Top Gear pitted a bunch of crossovers against one another – the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Volvo XC60, and Range Rover Velar – and took a closer look at the Alpine A110 sports car.
Unfortunately, as we all know by now, the vehicle burned down, while Chris Harris and Eddie Jordan escaped before things really got out of hands.
It looks like Alpine wanted to make amends for the trouble Top Gear went through and sent The Stig a new shiny A110 to set a lap in. As usual, the speechless driver isn’t holding anything back, as he flings the compact sports car around the circuit. The A110 is the French automaker’s take on a lightweight, mid-engined sports car. The vehicle sits on an all-aluminum platform, so it’s incredibly light, weighing in at just 2,380 pounds (1,080 kg). When you combine that with its turbocharged 1.8-liter engine that produces 247 hp (184 kW) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque, you have a really good recipe. Thanks to its seven-speed DCT gearbox, the A110 can sprint to 62 mph (110 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Those figures may not seem that impressive, but the car isn’t meant to be a blindingly-fast supercar, it’s supposed to take on the likes of the Alfa Romeo 4C and Porsche 718 Cayman. With The Stig behind the wheel of the car, the vehicle puts down a quick lap time of 1:22.9. And when you compare that to the other times on Top Gear’s website, that makes it just as quick as the Ferrari F430. Road & Track claims that the time puts it in between the 718 Cayman S, which managed to complete a lap in 1:21.6, and the 4C that set a time of 1:24.8.It looks like a really fun car to drive. Unfortunately, Americans are out of luck, as there’s no way that the A110 will be sold in the U.S. That sucks.
