Kadokawa Corp. has opened a cinema specializing in anime in Tokyo's Shinjuku district that is described as Japan's only movie-showing facility equipped with a cafe and gallery space.
The EJ Anime Theater, which opened on Dec. 22, was remodeled from the Kadokawa Cinema Shinjuku, which reopened on July 28 as an anime theater.
The cafe and gallery space feature exhibits associated with movies shown at the theater. Related products are on sale, while events are held in the space.
EJ stands for "Entertainment Japan" to make the theater a base to spread the country’s entertainment to the world.
Kadokawa intends to show not only its films but also anime works produced by other companies. It will host collaborative events in the cafe and gallery space.
