Atsuko Maeda wins Japanese Professional Movie Award for Best ActressWinners of the 22nd Annual Japanese Professional Movie Awards, aka Nichi Pro Taish?, were recently announced and it was revealed that former AKB48 member Atsuko Maeda has won the Best Actress prize for her performance in The Drudgery Train.

The Nichi Pro awards are presided over by film journalist Hiroo Otaka and the selections often spotlight quality films that have been undervalued for a variety of reasons.

The Drudgery Train was directed by Nobuhiro Yamashita and adapted from an Akutagawa Prize-winning novel by Kenta Nishimura. Maeda plays the heroine of the film, which stars Mirai Moriyama as a 19-year-old heavy-drinking day laborer who falls for Maeda's character Yasuko.
