Beloved Steam Locomotive Yamaguchi Chugging Along Again On Normal Route

Beloved Steam Locomotive Yamaguchi chugging along again on normal routeBelching smoke and chugging along, the picturesque Steam Locomotive Train Yamaguchi resumed operation on its entire route on JR Yamaguchi Line on Aug. 23, more than a year after torrential rains damaged the tracks.

The beloved locomotive train of West Japan Railway Co. (JR West) ran the entire 62.9-kilometer route between Shin-Yamaguchi Station in Yamaguchi and Tsuwano Station in Tsuwano, Shimane Prefecture, after the restoration of the damaged section of the Yamaguchi Line was completed.

The train, which makes one daily round trip for tourists and train buffs, operated on a shortened route after heavy rains flooded the tracks and cut off the Yamaguchi Line, which connects Shin-Yamaguchi Station and Masuda Station in Masuda, Shimane Prefecture, in July last year.
