Gai Laan With Sweet Miso Dressing

Gai laan with sweet miso dressingLighten up with this crisp Chinese broccoli side, ready in 15 minutes!

2 bunches gai laan, washed (see note)
1 tablespoon white miso paste
2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
2 tablespoons mirin
1 teaspoon caster sugar
1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted

Step 1
Separate stems and leaves from gai laan. Cut stems in half. Place a large steamer over a wok or large saucepan of simmering water. Place stems in steamer. Cook, covered, for 3 to 4 minutes or until just tender. Add leaves. Cook, covered, for 2 to 3 minutes or until wilted. Transfer to a bowl.
Step 2
Meanwhile, combine miso paste, sweet soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sesame oil and 1 tablespoon cold water in a small saucepan over low heat. Cook, whisking, for 3 to 5 minutes or until smooth and heated through. Pour over gai laan. Serve sprinkled with sesame seeds.
