Hundreds take 'thrill ride' aboard new high-speed bullet train on Hokuriku lineAbout 300 people experienced speeds reaching 260 kph on a new bullet train model during a public demonstration ride along a section of the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line to be opened on March 14.



The Feb. 5 test ride on the Kanazawa-Nagano section, the first open to the media, was organized by West Japan Railway Co. (JR West) and East Japan Railway Co. (JR East).

Carrying 300 passengers representing about 100 companies, JR West’s new W7 Series Shinkansen train departed from Kanazawa Station for Nagano Station, hitting 260 kph in seven minutes.

The train, which has an ivory white-colored body with copper and blue coloring, made a round trip on the 228-kilometer stretch.

Also unveiled were the higher-class "Green Car" and the highest-level "Gran Class" car, along with the "Ordinary Car."
