Hyatt's Centric brand arrives in Tokyo with new Ginza hotel

Leading U.S. hotel group Hyatt opened its first "Centric"-branded luxury hotel in the Asia-Pacific region in Tokyo's plush shopping district of Ginza on Jan. 22.

The Hyatt Centric Ginza Tokyo, in the capital's Chuo Ward, continues the theme of centrally located "boutique" hotels for the Centric brand, which launched in 2015.

The new hotel boasts a prime location in the Ginza Asahi Building on high-end, shop-lined Namiki-dori street.

It occupies the third to top floors in the 12-story building. The 164 guest rooms are spread between the fifth and 12th floors, with five types available, ranging from 35 to 127 square meters.

Room rates are 40,000 yen ($361) per night on average.

David Udell, Asia Pacific group president of Hyatt Hotels, described Namiki-dori street as a center of culture, entertainment and shopping and is very pleased to operate the hotel here.
