The next film project of director SABU (Bunny Drop, Miss ZOMBIE) will be an adaptation of his own debut novel Ten no Chasuke. The film will be jointly distributed by Office Kitano and Shochiku, with Office Kitano serving as the production company.
Casting is currently underway, but there are reportedly plans to assemble an extravagant cast which will likely include familiar faces from the director's past work.
The book is set entirely in Okinawa and filming will take place throughout the entire prefecture this summer. Not much info is available as of yet, but the plot is said to involve a love story brimming with fantasy elements that connect earth with the heavens.
"Ten no Chasuke" (tentative title) will be released nationwide in Japan sometime in 2015.
