Japanese municipalities and health officials confirmed 110 new cases of coronavirus infection across Japan on Monday, bringing the total to 18,631.

With the 712 cases from the Diamond Princess cruise ship that was quarantined at Yokohama port added, the total number of confirmed infections comes to 19,343.

By prefecture, Tokyo tops the list with 6,171 cases, including 58 newly confirmed on Monday.

The health ministry says 44 people remained in serious condition as of Monday, including one from the Diamond Princess.

The coronavirus-related death toll stands at 985, including 13 from the ship. No deaths were reported on Monday.
