Abe's moves on Friday

Prime Minister Abe Shinzo entered the prime minister's office shortly before 10 a.m. on Friday.

He responded to greetings from reporters as he entered the office.

Abe then attended a Cabinet meeting that began shortly past 10 a.m. there.

After the meeting, Abe exchanged views on possible use of reserve funds for measures related to the coronavirus pandemic with Finance Minister Aso Taro and senior finance ministry officials.

He then held a one-on-one meeting with Aso, who is also deputy prime minister. The meeting lasted more than 30 minutes.

After the meeting, Aso left the prime minister's office without responding to reporters.

Abe attended a meeting of the government's coronavirus taskforce from 1 p.m. He instructed participants to fully work to contain the outbreak and sustain social and economic activity.

The prime minister left his office before 2 p.m. and went to the headquarters of his Liberal Democratic Party. He's now meeting LDP Secretary-General Nikai Toshihiro and other party executives.
