In his book, "Downs: the history of a disability," the author focuses on Down syndrome as well as intellectual disability along with his personal experiences. The book was recently translated into the Japanese language with the supports from avid researchers in Japan.



Wright's sister Susan was born in Toronto in 1967 when he was 2 years old. After she was diagnosed with Down syndrome, their parents decided not to seek institutionalization despite the advice of medical professionals and friends, and chose to raise her at home instead.
