About 1,000 colorful carp streamers are adorning a large bridge spanning a valley in Ibaraki Prefecture, northeast of Tokyo.
People in Japan traditionally fly carp-shaped windsocks to celebrate Children's Day, which falls on May 5 every year.
A local tourism association and other groups annually decorate the roughly 370-meter Ryujin Big Suspension Bridge in Hitachiota City. They use streamers donated from across the nation.
Many tourists viewed the spectacle and took photos of it on Saturday, the first day of the 10-day holiday.
A woman visited the site with her baby boy for the first time. She said the streamers are very impressive.
This year's event runs through May 12.
