People are flocking to a Christmas market that opened in the northern Japanese city of Sapporo on Friday.
The Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo features goods, food and drinks from Germany and elsewhere in Europe.
Sapporo and Munich became sister cities in 1972 after they both held Olympic Games -- Sapporo in the winter and Munich in the summer. The Christmas market is held every year in the center of Sapporo.
Crowds of people came to enjoy the event at Odori-Park. Some bought Christmas ornaments while others enjoyed hot wine and other food and beverages.
A woman in her 20s from Tokyo says she is happy to be able to feel the holiday mood.
Snow can be seen in the city, playing a part in the seasonal event.
Stage performances featuring German music and other events are also being held at the market.
It runs through December 25.
