Covid - 19 Clusters Threaten Health Care System

COVID-19 clusters threaten health care system

A surging number of coronavirus cluster infections in Japan is raising fears that medical care system in affected communities will be overstretched.

The health ministry compiles weekly data on clusters based on media reports.

Cases include those recognized by local authorities as clusters, and those involving two or more people.

The ministry says 814 clusters were confirmed across the country over the course of about a month until the end of November. The figure was nearly triple that of a month before.

Among them, 105 clusters occurred in medical institutions. That's 3.4 times as many as a month before.

The ministry is sending experts to affected areas to help contain infections.
