A crewmember has been found dead inside a cargo ship that sank off eastern Japan in a collision with another freighter on Sunday. The Japan Coast Guard is searching for two others who are still missing.
Coast Guard divers on Tuesday found the crewmember inside the ship, which is now lying on its side on the seabed at a depth of about 30 meters.
The Senshomaru, with a crew of five, sank after the collision in waters off Chiba Prefecture near Tokyo.
Two crewmembers have so far been found dead. The captain was rescued.
On Monday, divers said they heard tapping sounds from inside the ship near the living quarters in the rear section. The Coast Guard said that survivors may have been trying to send signals.
