Driver's Chair Among Goodies Up For Grabs In Shinkansen Sale

Driver's chair among goodies up for grabs in Shinkansen sale

Rail fans raced to get online Oct. 12 when Central Japan Railway Co. (JR Tokai) began a sale of items from its Shinkansen train services, including passenger seats, watches and destination plates.

For the first batch of offers from JR Tokai Tetsudo Club (JR Tokai railway club), the company is marketing articles used in the 700 Series bullet trains, which are being gradually replaced.

Highlights of the sale include a driver’s chair, priced at 80,000 yen ($713), including tax and shipping, and a wristwatch worn by train staff for 15,000 yen.

JR Tokai said it will consider a sale of similar items from local lines that it operates, depending on how popular the stock currently on offer turns out.
