Foreign residents support center opens in Tokyo

The Japanese government opened a one-stop consultation center in Tokyo on Monday to provide assistance to foreign workers.

The Foreign Residents Support Center, or FRESC, is in Yotsuya, Shinjuku Ward. Eight government-affiliated organizations have offices there, including the Immigration Services Agency and the Japan Legal Support Center.

Receptionists can provide services in 11 languages.

The consultation services will include legal advice for foreign residents.

The center will also provide information to local governments and companies aimed at promoting their acceptance of foreign workers and foreign students.

Justice Minister Mori Masako said the center will respond to the concerns of foreign residents, including coronavirus-related issues.
