Hot spring a draw for new Tokyo fish market complexA company that operates “onsen” hot spring facilities has been selected to operate a commercial and tourism complex in the new fish market in Tokyo that will replace the current Tsukiji market in November.

The selection of Manyo Club Co., based in Odawara, Kanagawa Prefecture, as the operator of the “Senkyaku Banrai” complex was announced March 4 by the Tokyo metropolitan government, which will operate the new Toyosu market in Koto Ward. Senkyaku Banrai means “a succession of visitors.”

According to the metropolitan government, Manyo Club will construct a 24-hour onsen facility along with a mall and a hotel on a 1.1-hectare parcel adjacent to a building that will house the outlets of intermediate wholesalers of fish and other seafood.

The mall, including restaurants, will reproduce the streets of the Edo Period (1603-1867). It will open in August 2018 followed by the hotel in August 2019.
