Inaba Disappointed, But Focus On Tokyo Games

Inaba disappointed, but focus on Tokyo games

The manager of Japan's national baseball team has expressed disappointment that the sport will likely be dropped from the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Atsunori Inaba issued a comment on Friday, after the Paris organizing committee announced that baseball and softball will be ruled out as candidates for additional sports for the event.

Inaba said baseball officials did their best to keep the sport in the Olympics, and it is deeply regrettable that their efforts did not bear fruit.

He said the national team's goal of winning gold in Tokyo remains unchanged, and the team will spend the time between now and the Games working hard to achieve it.
