Japan records no new COVID-19 cases Tues. morning

Japan's health officials reported no new infections of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday morning.

The total number of confirmed cases in the country stands at 17,223.

An additional 712 cases are passengers and crew from the Diamond Princess cruise ship.

The country's death toll stands at 932, including 13 from the cruise ship.

By prefecture, Tokyo tops the list with 5,396 patients, followed by Osaka with 1,785 and Kanagawa with 1,395. Hokkaido has 1,125 cases and Saitama has 1,004.

Officials say 209 cases were confirmed at airport quarantines, and 173 were people who returned from China on government-chartered planes, government employees, quarantine officials and others.
