Japanese cyclist killed in accident in Peru

A Japanese cyclist has been killed in a road accident in Peru. Fumihiko Sato had been on a round-the-world trip to teach children about the lives of people in other countries.

The 31-year-old was reportedly hit by a truck on Sunday in the northern town of Guadalupito. He had been cycling across Peru after entering the country on July 31.

According to his blog, the elementary school teacher from Chiba Prefecture, near Tokyo, worked for eight years before he quit his job last year to pursue his dream.

Sato's last Twitter post said he was in Peru and would be updating his blog and uploading videos on YouTube.
