JOC chief to hold news conference on Tuesday

The Japanese Olympic Committee says President Tsunekazu Takeda will talk about the corruption probe in France at a news conference on Tuesday.

French prosecutors say Takeda was formally placed under investigation last month for suspected corruption, related to Tokyo's successful bid to host the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics.

Takeda said in a statement on Friday that he has done nothing illegal, and that he will cooperate with the French investigators.

Sources say Takeda wants to speak for himself and present the facts at the news conference in Tokyo.
