Japanese astronaut Norishige Kanai will return to earth on Sunday completing a 6-month mission aboard the International Space Station.
Kanai and 2 other astronauts from Russia and the United States are getting ready to board the Russian spacecraft Soyuz to head back to earth.
Soyuz is scheduled to undock from the space station at around 9:16 UTC on Sunday. It will reenter the earth's atmosphere at around 12:17 UTC and touch down in Kazakhstan in Central Asia around 12:40 UTC.
Kanai is a former medical officer with Japan's Maritime Self-Defense Force. During his mission, Kanai conducted various scientific experiments in space and walked in space outside the International Space Station.
