Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda says his actors' ability to work with each other helped his movie "Shoplifters" to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival.
Koreeda spoke to reporters at Tokyo's Haneda Airport on his return from France on Wednesday. He said he finally began to feel the Palme d'Or was real when he saw the smiles of his staff at the airport. He said he wants to sleep with the trophy for at least one night.
Koreeda said it was fortunate that the actors in the movie reacted to each other with deep understanding.
He also said he witnessed various chemical reactions taking place and was convinced that he had made a good film.
