Management firm issues comment on Miura's death

The management firm of Japanese actor Miura Haruma has released a comment on his death.

The firm, Amuse, released a statement on its official website on Monday, two days after the 30-year old died in an apparent suicide at his home. He was taken to a hospital in Tokyo, where he was pronounced dead.

In the comment, the firm says fellow artists and staff members are stunned at the news of the sudden death of their colleague. It says Miura had been talking about pursuing his dream with them for 16 years since he was a junior high school student.

The statement says they are deeply sorry for his passing.

Miura appeared in many TV dramas and movies, including "The Eternal Zero," for which he won an award from the Japan Academy Film Prize Association for excellence as a supporting actor. He also performed in a number of NHK dramas and hosted a travel show on NHK.

A private funeral for Miura has already been held. The firm says it intends to hold an event for people, including fans, to say good-bye to Miura. It says the event will be held with a view to keeping the participants safe from coronavirus infection.
