More than 52,000 households in Tokyo and surrounding areas are still without power due to Typhoon Hagibis.

Tokyo Electric Power Company is working to fix transmission facilities damaged by flooding.

At 6 a.m. on Monday, 2,100 households in Tokyo, 1,200 in Gunma Prefecture, 900 in Saitama Prefecture, 800 in Ibaraki Prefecture, 400 in Tochigi Prefecture, and 200 households in Yamanashi Prefecture were without power. Parts of Shizuoka, Kanagawa and Chiba Prefectures are also affected.

TEPCO, together with the economy ministry, has dispatched mobile generators to some hospitals and evacuation centers.

It expects the electricity supply will be restored by Wednesday in about 90 percent of the areas without power.

The utility is also calling on people to turn off circuit breakers, and has issued a safety warning against the use of water-soaked electrical items.
