Japan's Foreign Ministry says one Japanese national has died and four are injured in Sunday's simultaneous bomb attacks in Sri Lanka.
More than 200 people have been confirmed dead in the attacks which occurred in the largest city of Colombo.
Foreign Minister Taro Kono told reporters on Monday that he mourns the loss of lives in the bombings. He said Japan has notified the Sri Lankan government of its readiness to help and plans to do so again.
Ministry sources say the Japanese national who died was initially said to have suffered a serious injury, but later was listed as dead.
Kono and ministry officials have convened an emergency meeting to discuss Japan's response to the attacks.
