S. Korea Urges Japan In Talks To Restore Bilateral Trust

S. Korea urges Japan in talks to restore bilateral trustSouth Korea's Vice Foreign Minister Kim Kyou Hyun told his Japanese counterpart Akitaka Saiki on Thursday that Japan should make efforts to resolve the issues arising from its colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula to improve strained relations between the two neighboring countries.

"Japan's showing sincerity in resolving the issues on the past history and restore trust in bilateral relations is more important than anything else," Kim told Saiki at their talks, according to South Korean officials.

In response, Saiki said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's government has inherited the same perception of history as held by previous Japanese governments.
