Shingo Katori holds first exhibition in Paris

Shingo Katori, a Japanese artist and former member of male pop group SMAP, is holding his first solo exhibition in Paris.

A preview of the show was held on Tuesday, the day before its opening to the public, at a facility adjacent to the Louvre Museum.

It is part of a cultural event called "Japonismes 2018" to commemorate the 160th anniversary of friendship between Japan and France.

The exhibition displays about 100 works, including a painting featuring Tokyo Tower and one of the Eiffel Tower.

The works also include a collage of about 70 sketches done by Katori, which were then painted by his fans.

Goro Inagaki and Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, former members of the disbanded idol group, also attended the preview.

Katori said he is honored to hold the exhibition and very thankful.

The exhibition runs through October 3rd.
