High school students from northeastern Japan have taken part in a performance of Mozart's Requiem in New York City to remember the victims of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
The 27 Japanese students performed at Lincoln Center on Saturday. They are from Miyagi Prefecture, which was severely affected by the disaster.
An organization that promotes international exchanges holds the concert every year.
The Japanese and American singers were accompanied by a local orchestra.
The concert-goers enthusiastically applauded the 50-minute piece.
An audience member said the performance conveyed the feelings of the students.
A Japanese student said they bonded through music and it was a good experience.
