Suga: Japan 'interested' in Kim's China trip

Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga says Japan has a very high level of interest in North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's reported visit to China.

Suga told reporters on Tuesday that the government is working to collect and analyze information and hopes to receive an appropriate explanation from China.

In response to a question about the purpose of the visit, Suga said he is not in a position to speak about the intentions of North Korea or China.

He said he would like to refrain from speculating about the impact of the visit at this point.
